The Stakeholder Map is the perfect method to start your project. It helps you to think of every stakeholder group that might be interested in your project and provides an overview of them accordingly.
Print the Stakeholder Map on a large piece of paper. Brainstorm all the possible stakeholders who might be interested, involved or affected by your project. Then, rank the stakeholders into the quadrants to identify the relationship you should maintain with them. Keep the closest contact with stakeholders in the top right quadrant.
The Stakeholder Map visualises all stakholders somehow involved in your project. It also helps to identify the most important stakeholders and tells you what kind of relation you should maintain with them.
Tips from w_39
- Check your stakeholder map regularly as your project progresses. That way, you cannot forget about anyone.
- Infer how often you need to contact someone from this map.
